Event Recap : American Hwangap

Three generations of KAC members enjoyed a cultural outing to see American Hwangap and left us thinking- Korean Americans are taking control of what Korean inspired food taste like with cheese and other ingredients found in the US, and now we are redefining what Korean cultural celebrations look like. I've seen plenty of Korean inspired 100TH and First birthdays but this is the first for Hwangap.

KAHS Grant

Congrats to Korean American Historical Society, recipient of the prestigious NEH Grant. KAC can't wait to share family photos from the 1970s at the upcoming digital preservation event.

Governor's Prayer Breakfast

Celebrating the 77th Annual Governor's Prayer Breakfast. In 1935, prayer breakfast was started in WA to face a crucial situation in the life of our city, and this was one of the ways to deal with the tensions and fractures. Our state's model ultimately became the model for the first National Prayer Breakfast in 1953 with President Eisenhower.

Thank you to everyone who attended our March Professional Mixer, it's always a lot of fun to connect with new members and to reconnect with old friends. We now have a buddy system in place so feel to join us next time with your buddy or meet a new buddy. Member Spotlight: Jung Kim

Jung Kim is a new transplant to the Seattle area, but not new at being a transplant. He is a 2nd generation Korean American born in Michigan, resided in over 5 different countries, holder of 3 citizenships, and is a proud Boilermaker from Purdue University. Jung's passion, both professionally and personally, is implementation strategies. Formerly as a consultant and currently as an engineer at The Boeing Company, he develops and expands upon new automation processes that helps motivates and provides confidence in his customer's path to dominance of aerospace engineering and manufacturing. Likewise through KAC-WA, Jung desires to reach out to the Korean American communities regionally to expand upon implementation of outreach programs in effective and impactful ways to ensure a strong Korean American cultural representation and awareness for both mutual growth and future of the Korean American and the PNW public at large.

Jung believes any successful relationship requires checking one's ego and operating with a high degree of humility. Admitting mistakes, taking ownership, and developing a plan to overcome challenges are integral to his personality and eager every and all feedback. Jung is excited to partner up with KAC to learn from and grow with the Korean Americans in the PNW and American society.
